Helping your clients understand how to structure and manage their business is vital if they want to optimise their financial returns and successfully plan for the future.

Many clients don't talk to their professional advisers early enough about their future plans or changes that are occurring in their business environment. This can lead to opportunities being addressed too late or being missed altogether. With the level of work pressure experienced by many professionals, they too can misjudge the need to talk to their clients about forward planning.

Armed with valuable skills and know-how, workshop participants  will leave better equipped to identify what their clients need to start doing now to prepare for succession, structure the succession deal, take the business to market and maximise their succession outcome. Claim up to 2 CPD hours.

About the presenter: Aaron Wallace has been a Director at Hayes Knight since 2006 and leads the firm's Business Improvement Team.

During his career Aaron has learnt to understand and appreciate the practical issues facing business owners; developing expertise in the areas of due diligence, business valuations, wealth creation, financial modelling and, of course, succession planning.

Back in early 2004 Hayes Knight identified succession in business as a growing demographic issue facing the New Zealand and Australian economies. In response to this Aaron was one of the pioneers behind New Zealand's only publication to tackle prominent societal and business issues around succession planning and transition of ownership - Succeed magazine. Impressed by his experience, in 2005 and 2008 Aaron was invited to head a national initiative aimed at up-skilling the accounting profession in this discipline in 2005 and 2008. The subsequent course work has since been acknowledged and published by Brookers (now Thomson Reuters).
