Thank you to all the Schools who came to our recent update seminar for schools. We appreciated your input and we trust you found it useful. Wow did this topic create an interesting level of input! We recognise that the implementation of this new payroll system has caused a lot of challenges and additional work for many schools. So what was the focus of this discussion..

As your auditors we, like you, are still awaiting to see what some of the year-end reports will be like, and to obtain some certainty around reliability of the information.  As we learn more we will inform our client schools.

Concern was expressed at our seminar about what the auditors will be expecting when they come to your school.  Our main focus at your school will be to assess the implementation of internal controls that you have put in place regarding operating payroll under Novopay.  We are also concerned to understand how you have been following up regarding inaccuracies and what sort of information trail you are keeping to ensure this is being done comprehensively at your school.

Rest assured we are cognisant of the challenges involved and will as always be taking a pragmatic approach while still seeking to obtain appropriate audit comfort.
