Audit Directors

On the 1 July the Auditor Regulation Act 2011 came in to effect.

All auditors and audit firms that perform audits of financial statements of issuers are now required to comply with this Act.  An issuer is primarily defined as an entity that issues debt or equity securities to the general public.

All individuals in New Zealand responsible for signing off audit opinions on issuer financial statements now need to hold a licence.   In addition, audit firms that perform issuer audits must be registered and must ensure for each issuer audit that the engagement partner holds a licence and an individual who carries out the quality control review of key decisions and judgements also holds a licence.

Hayes Knight remain committed to providing high quality assurance services to our clients and working to raise the bar of auditing standards in New Zealand.
