By Hayes Knight – 29 June 2011

Outdated governance practices, compounded by a lack of good governance training has seen many Not-for-Profits in New Zealand fall short of their full potential. Their ability to survive and prosper in today’s world is further hampered by the juxtaposition between management and board members.

On the 28 June 2011, Hayes Knight invited Kevin McCaffrey, Director of Effective Governance New Zealand, to address the Governance issues crippling New Zealand’s Not-for-Profits. Board members, managers, and CEOs from close to 90 Not-for-Profit organisations attended this event, which covered:

  • The core role of Governance
  • Responsibilities of Board members and management
  • How to effectively manage risk

Attendees were presented with a very useful “governance roadmap” and treated to a valuable Q&A session.
